The aim of this work is to study the dynamics of change of fatal poisoning patterns in the city of Tashkent for the last five years (1993-1997). An analysis of statistical data shows that among substances which have a greatest toxicological significance the following are noted: alcohol, carbon monooxide, medical preparations, organic solvents, acids and pesticides, respectively in decreasing order.

In the last five years a significant decrease in fatal poisonings by pesticides has been noted in connection with decreasing application significance in the agriculture of Uzbekistan. However, an increase of combined poisonings from simultaneous action of different toxic substances and other poisonings connected with ingestion of drinks containing alcohol was observed. A number of carbon monoxide fatal poisonings has constantly increased for the last five years.

In the laboratory, for physical and chemical methods of the analysis the following equipment is used: photoelectric calorimeter, spectrophotometer SF-46, gas-chromatograph LGC-4, and thin-layer- chromatography. When it is necessary for forensic examination of fatal poisonings the modern equipment at the laboratories of other Tashkent physical and chemical institutions are used.
