The 44th scientific meeting of the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia in the Cankarjev Dom Congress Centre and in the main building of the Medical Faculty from August 27 to September 1, 2006.
With this event, Ljubljana will have the opportunity to host renowned forensic toxicologists and related professionals whose work and annual meeting contributions have not only been documented as conference proceedings for several years now, but also in supplements to Forensic Science International , the Journal of Chromatography B and the Journal of Analytical Toxicology .
A great effort will be made to highlight important topics such as: behavioral toxicology (alcohol, drugs, traffic safety); occupational and environmental toxicology; workplace drug testing and doping control; drug abuse; post-mortem toxicology; clinical forensic toxicology; toxins, herbals and venoms; analytical methods; alternative specimens; and quality assurance and accreditation.
In addition, and in order to obtain wider coverage of the discipline, we encourage you all, especially young scientists, to submit your work, which will be presented in oral and poster sessions. The programme opens with two days of plenary sessions, poster sessions, a trade exhibition and meetings with exhibitors. The following days will be devoted mostly to oral presentations. With the additional symposium “Medicinal Drugs and Human Performancy” we would like to empha-size the fact that the findings and efforts of forensic toxicologists play a major role in the area of lifestyle improvement and safety assurance.
The social programme has been designed in a way to give you the best possible experience of the city of Ljubljana and Slovenia, the "green island", where the Alps and the Mediterranean meet the Pannonian plains and the mysterious Karst. Additionally, the programme provides opportunities for you to spend most of your free time together.
We look forward to seeing you in Ljubljana in August 2006!
