There is, always, an urgent need in forensic toxicology for quick tests as well as confirmatory ones especially in cases of drugs of abuse deaths. In the present paper, we aim to investigate the possibility of expanding Triage kit from urine to forensic specimens, besides urine, for opiates, cannabinoids, amphetamines and cocaine screening.
Blank liver specimens, blended with an equal weight of saline, were homogenized, spiked with three concentrations (100, 200 and 300 ng/ml) of morphine, methamphetamine, δ9THCCOOH, benzoylecgonine and, finally, were analysed by Triage Kit without previous pretreatment.
Positive results of all groups of drugs were found at the highest concentration and were compared with results from TDx kit application. TDx method seemed to be more sensitive than Triage, since it gave positive results even in some low concentrations. Finally, it may be stated that Triage kit is possible to be used at cut-off levels for several specimens even other than urine, for a quick screening of drugs of abuse.
