TIAFT Bulletin

New TIAFT Bulletin Editors,

TIAFT BulletinWe wish to inform you that Jochen Beyer and I have been appointed TIAFT Bulletin Editors. This is an honour for both of us and we aim to build on the terrific work of Anya Pierce and her unfailing commitment to the Bulletin over many, many years. On behalf of all TIAFT members we deeply thank Anya and her small team of sub-editors, proof readers, case note reviewers and colleagues that worked hard and helped put every issue of the bulletin together.

Initially, Jochen and I will aim to keep the bulletin in its current format as we plan to issue the new first bulletin in early October, 2009. We will make a number of changes and improvements where possible such that readers look forward to each bulletin publication. We have secured a publisher here in Melbourne and will reduce our bulletin production costs with no loss in quality; in fact we will try and improve the look, feel and content of the bulletin. Look inside this new look bulletin - we hope you like what you see and read.

An ongoing problem for Anya and her team was the difficulty in sourcing strong scientific content for the bulletin. We aim to remedy this by sourcing articles directly from TIAFT members, this has already commenced to some degree as witnessed in the last bulletin where articles from Dr. Marc Lebeau and Dr. Heesun Chung were both published. We will also ask for TIAFT committee reports prior to the annual TIAFT meeting for collation in the July issue (2010), such that these can be discussed at the annual business meeting. We aim to have a new drugs section, similar to our colleagues at SOFT. We also would like a small summary of significant developments and meeting highlights from other toxicological societies such as SOFT, IATDMCT, SFTA, GTFCH, and SOHT etc. For each edition we will devote a page to new members, there will be a letter to the editor section, book reviews, a new product section from sponsors and of course a meetings review section, whether that be the annual TIAFT meeting or other regional TIAFT meetings. There are many changes planned which will hopefully lead to rejuvenated interest and contribution for our associations main communiqué. Any suggestions are welcome and we can be contacted by e-mail (as listed below). The Board has also approved a Best Bulletin Paper published in the bulletin over a full year. The award (same value as Young scientist Award of $500USD) will be given at the annual TIAFT meeting see details on page 15. We hope you like this new Bulletin, your comments are welcome; we enjoyed Geneva very much this year, thanks to Marc, Christian and Olivier and their terrific team.
All the best,

Dimitri Gerostamoulos,
Jochen Beyer
